Follow Your Dreams

It's not easy for me to let you go. But I know it's your life time dream. I remember since you are little, you didn't get enough just by learning about History & Geography, but you wanted to look closely travelling around the world visiting those places.
It's been over 2 months since you packed your bag and waved goodbye, I miss you so much my dear. It's nice when I can hear your voice, knowing that you are alright and having a good time, like this morning.

My entry for the International Artist Competition

I submitted one of my paintings for the International Artist Competition.  The picture of my painting which published in their website is larger than the actual size of the painting itself. It's a small painting under the title Midnight Bloom.

I picked Midnight Bloom (Crysantemum flower) to enter this competition because I consider this is the best painting I've done. "The colour is very dramatic. The light is terrific. The brush stroke/texture is beautifully done.", said other fellow artists when I showed this piece of my work. I agreed. Working on a small canvas is more difficult to get a beautiful texture than on the large one. I did it very carefully with a very small brush, I even use a toothpick for creating some fine lines.

I don't expect to win. It's just for fun. There are so many beautiful paintings other artists have submitted. But who know the Judges like mine :-)

Yellow roses in the evening

I still enjoyed painting flowers, so I bought a bunch of yellow roses. I took photo of it in the evening and somehow the colour in the photograph was different, not a bright yellow as it actually was. But I like it. So I used the colour like in the photo.

After sketching on the canvas using charcoal pencil, I painted grisaille (painting black and white) using acrylic Ivory black, raw umber and titanium white. Then I painted over it using colours with oil.
Maria said this painting look nicer when it was black and white. But I didn't mean to make a black and white painting, it's only my style of painting or the way I do to tone the white canvas.
This painting still need to be polished by glazing a few more layers and give some highlights, but I have to wait till the under painting is dry. So I hung it on the wall, put a blank canvas on the easel and started a new project.

My Last Painting In 2007

MULTI COLOUR HIBISCUS

Before the end of the year, I managed to do one more painting with acrylic size 16x16', using reference a macro photo from Al Risinger.
