Chrysantemum with back lighting

This week Mark at home because it is a special week for us. So I only did small paintings in the evening while watching TV.

I painted this Chrysantemum for the December Plant Parade - a Forum Project in  Wetcanvas.com. I used water soluble oil on wrapped around canvas size 7x5'.

I quite enjoy sitting on the sofa holding canvas and brush. So once it's done, I did more small paintings; Orangelily and Poppy.

Oriental Lily Stargazer

Last spring I planted Lily bulbs. My Oriental lily stargazer came out late summer after others, but the flowers are so big and beautiful.  As the winter come, all the flowers in my garden are gone. All that's left only photos of them :-(

I painted these Lilies using reference photo I took from the garden. But I only picked the picture of flowers to be included in my paintings, and using my artist licence I made up its buds and leaves because in my photo there is no bud and the leaves/background isn't so clear.

Here are the finish paintings. The 1st version included all 4 flowers as in the photo, using acrylic on 16x20' canvas box. I was please with the flowers, but not completely satisfied with the composition, so I did another one with only 3 flowers in it but much bigger size, it's 40x30'.

Now I had enough staring at my 2nd version of this Lily painting - most of my painting time is staring at it then actually doing painting -  I can't think of anything else to do to improve it. So I will  leave it for a while and move on to the next project. Hope you enjoy looking at these pics as I enjoy painted them.

Going Large

I haven't been online for a while, still enjoy doing painting. Last weekend Sylvia came around and took photo of me in action. It's not only the size of my canvas that going large but also my body.
